Fun Weekend

I always love my dsyd off, but Friday and yesterday are hight on my list...

...Friday morning Amy and I headed to Hollywood Studios and went on the new 'Toy Story Mania' attraction, its soo much fun! We also wandered around and saw character from 'Cars'. We then went to watch the Beauty and the Beast show which i thought was really good. Nothing like tha film but it was fun to watch, we then met up with Elle and Sarah and did the Backlot tour, before deciding to head over to the Blizzard Beach water park.
We had so much fun there, just relaxing on the lazy river or trying out some of the fantastic water slides, i had so much fun.

Saturday, Katy, Amy and I headed for a day out at Universal Studios. We started in Islands of Adventure and did all of the ridaes we possibly could there, coming across the site of the new Harry Potter 'Land' as you could say, which is opening in 2010. It looks impressive from what we could see, and it possibly means a trip back to Orlando in a couple of years!
We also headed over to the Universal side and did the Shrek 4D attraction and the Mummy, then we just wandered around before stopping for some food before we headed home after our exhausting day!

Oh so clumsy!

For those who know me, you'll probably already know i'm one of the clumsiest people you will ever meet.
I have been however, extremely lucky that since I arrived here in Florida over 3 months ago, i've been extremely lucky and have avoided any injury even although I have tripped and fallen over numreous times...

...Well last night my luck finally ran out and and last night I actually hurt myself. I was at work climbing out of a boat at the end of the night, when I lost my footing. I thought i'd managed to catch myself before I landed but I didnt, I managed to fall, scraping my shin, as I fell between the boat and the dock. It hurt like a b***h and I hate to complain but last night I had no choice. I scraped up my leg pretty bad, so my co-ordinator had to call an alpha unit (fancy work for first aid) to come clean up my leg. There wasnt any blood and I was lucky enough not to go in the river but i've been advised that it might be wise to get a tetanus shot, just incase I do got in the water and my leg gets infected. Fun huh?

Well, i'm about to head of to Health services to see about this tetanus shot, what a fun day i'll have before I have to go back to work for another fun day at Jungle!!

The Dark Knight...twice in 24 hours

That's right, since the film was released at 12.01am on Friday the 18th of July (yesterday) I've already seen it twice!!!
I saw it first at 12.01am as soon as it was released, then again at 11.30 pm, both times being absolutely awesome and I really do believe its one of the best films I have EVER seen...And not because it was Heath Ledger's last film or anything to do with the surrounding promotion, but because it was an all round brilliantly made and acted movie. Don't get me wrong, I love Heath Ledger and he is one of my favourite actors and he played the part soo well and he made The Joker into who he was in the film, but that not the only reason I loved it.
If you ask my friends from back home, I was already excited to see it, way back in January, before the news that Heath Ledger had even died.

So movie Review of The Dark Knight:

5 Stars, and I would highly recommend that everybody goes to see it!!!

3 Months...

...That's how long I managed to keep My Jungle Cruise skipper costume away from any cameras, but that's no longer as last night during my parade shift Harmoni went snap happy and got several pics of me...

...here I am with a couple of the guys from work...

The last one is from when I was working the July 4th Celebrations, hopefully I wont have to wear that costume again!

Excited about work tonight...

...Now thats not usually a sentence that comes out of my mouth but tonight i'm genuinly looking forward to going to work.
Not that I don't like going to work, because I know I have to go, and i love seeing my friends everyday and havig fun, but tonight I guess is different. You see, instead of having just Jungle Cruise tonight, I have a parade shift, which means not only do I get a break from my usual job, but I get to watch both of the Spectromagic Parades, which I just love. Of course I do have to work, we have to do a bit of audience control in the parade route and we have to roll out the parage ropes to keep out the crowds but its such good fun, especially as some of my Jungle Cruise friends are diung it too! For those that don't know, Spectromagic is the nightly parade at the Magic Kingdon and it's a light parade with all the characters and floats having lights on them and they change colour ands stuff throughout the parade route.

Roll on 5.45pm!!

Never a dull moment!

Well i'm sat here with Brooke, Katy, Amy, Sarah and Elle and what a night we are having!

Elle is currently asleep, not sure why but she seems to be having no problem sitting through the havoc that everybody is causing. Well except me, i'm just just here in the corner documenting the sillyness.

Right now, Amy and Sarah are sat on Brooke's mattress, which is in the middle of the livingroom floor, brooke is drawing and writing all over a box which was used to carry our take away chinese meal, but it now brooke's 'Snail Shell' complete with string to hold it on her back...You know, i've just read that back to the girls and it makes us sound like a bunch of mad people that need to be locked up but no, this just a normal night for us! Katy is just sat quietly and being told off for not joining in.

Well....I think its about to get a lot worse, brooke just suggested making a fort out of a massive bunch of yellow pages that have been left lying at the clubhouse of our housing complex...which now seems to have gone ot the window as quickly as the thought came into her head!!

...And Katy is now standing with a bed sheet wrapped round her, which brooke thinks makes her looke like the statue of liberty, so to finish off the outfit, brooke put forks in her hair for the crown thingy and we took some pics!! I'll post the pics later.

Now for the cupid shuffle, Sarah and brooke are both dancing around me like a pair of idiots and they just happen to be wearing the party hats from Amy's party two days ago!!

Well, I think its time to go before I scare anybody anymore with the randomness that I fear is about to come!!!

P.S. Would you believe me if I told you every single one of us is SOBER...no...well I swear 100% that there is absolutely NO alcohol involved in the craziness!!

P.P.S. Before I go, if you think what i've just told you is complete random, then you're gonna think i've completely lost my mind...a bunch of guys and girls just randomly knoocked on the apartment door, when we opened the door, they had their face painted like cows (Black and white) with cow pictures and they just sang 'Old McDonald had a farm' to us, before they turned and left!!!!!! I kid you not, it really just happened!!!!!

Jack Sparrow...

...I met him at a Mickey's Pirate and Princess party, so i just thought i'd post a pic for all to see!

Think i'm turning nocturnal

...That's what happens when you work at Disney, and its not good!

I work such stupid hours, usually till at least midnight, so because i'm not tired my work friends and I head out for food, usually IHOP or Dennys or some place like that and we don't get home till at least 3am. I'm then sleeping till almost lunchtime and it's driving me mad!!

Must get out of bed earlier!!!!

Arghhhhhhhh!

Went to see Wall-E at the movies...

...And it was awesome!

He's such a cute little robot, and the film covers a very dark hidden message about the possible future of our planet!

But it was still Awesome!!

July 4th Aftermath...

...It officially sucks!! Not the Holiday or the celebration, but the way that people speak to you when they know that you are clearly just trying to do your job!!

Yup, everything was going really well, the Magic Kingdom was at capacity of about 75,000 poeple and I though that I was going to get through the day unscathed, until one person, yes ONE person completely spoiled it for me!!!
It was after the awesome fireworks display, when our jobs were to direct the traffic, not letting anybody go a certain direction, to ensure the safety of all the guests, until one man came up to me and blatantly refused to listen to a single word that I told him. He was a big guy, very intimidating and instead of just realising that we were only guiding him one direction for his safety, he insisted that I let him through an area that nobody was allowed to go through telling us that he was told to go this way, when I know he clearly wasnt. I tried to reason with him but to no avail, he thought it would be ok to curse at me and then i'd be frightenend by him and just let him do as he peased. Well, I wasnt going down that easily, so I guided him in the direction of my coordinator, so she could also tell him that he had to follow directed traffic, but NO, she then undermined me and then just let him through the no go area, making me look like a complete idiot!!

So one man (and I suppose the stupid coordinator too) completely ruined the day for me!! Now, I may not celebrate July 4th, but Being that i'm living in the country for 6 months, I thought I would do my best and go along with the days events. I wont be so keen in the future!

Happy July 4th

I don't actually celebrate this holiday, being from the UK and all, but since i'm in the counrty for this holiday, I thought i'd try and get in the spirit of things...

...I may howver change my opinion of this holiday by the end of the day, especially as i'm working the holiday!
The reason for this being, i've been taken out of my regular job and been schedued to help with crowd control during the times of the fireworks and the parades. Now, normally this would be fine with me, however I have been informed that the park will be at full capacity and there will be sooo many people in the park, some of them getting a little hot headed at times (a coordinator was punched by a guest last year)so by the end of the night i'm just gonna want to curl up in a little ball and cry!

I'll update tomorrow with all the goings on!!

The most fun week since I arrived in Orlando

Well, the title says it all...

...Since we picked up the rental car last week, it's been like a completely different experience. From the fact I dont have to rely on buses to get to and from places, to the ability to get out of Orlando for a couple of days, to just getting to spend some quality time with a couple of the girlies i'm closest to on the program. The week has been awesome and I just don't want it to end!

We started our week, by heading over to Tampa. That was a good day, a bit strange, because we actually headed a bit further and went to St Petersburg and just wandered about the shops...well the ones we could find anyway as it was a little sparse on shops and places where we could actually spend our money.
We then drove back to Tampa and to Ybor city and had a little look around, getting lost a few times on the way (Wtih Satellite Navigation I might add). After looking around town, we headed to our hotel so we could get ready for our night out in Ybor City, as that was where was recommended. Once we were all glammed up, we headed back into Ybor City and had a look in a few shops before stopping in a bar called the Green Iguana for food. The food was Soooo good and there was soo much of it, that lots went to waste.
We then had a drink in a few different bars and ended the night in a place called Casper's grotto which happened to do karaoke. Brooke and Amy took to the stage where as I sat back and let them do their thing, knowing I'd kill everybody's eardrums with my singing voice!!

The next day we headed to St Petersburg again, only this time we headed to the Beach and settled for a lovely spot in Treasure Island, where we split our time between lying on the sand and playing about in the sea, successfully topping up my suntan. :-)

Unfortunately there were no sightings of Mr Cena, or any other wrestlers who reside in the tampa area. :-(

After that wonderful weekend it was back to reality with a bump and back to work.

Even being back at work, because we had the car still, it was liberating, knowing that I could still escape, out of work and not be restrained in the boundaries in the world of Disney!

Well, now it's D-Day and tomorrow the car goes back to the rental place. I soo do not wanna give it back, it's been such a fantastic week and now i'm just scared that when the car goes back it's all gonna go back to how it was, with the stupid Disney buses and the fact i'm gonna be stuck once again in the Disney bubble with no escape, making me homesick once again, and I really don't want that.

It's the beginning of the July 4th celebrations at Disney tomorrow, so hopefully for the time being thats gonna keep my mind off being homesick and i'm gonna just enjoy the festivities!!
